MOFCOM Released Comment on the Preliminary Ruling of the US for Two Anti-Subsidy
[2010-03-08 11:12:08]
The US Department of Commerce recently released the announcement on two cases of the coated paper and phosphate exported by China to the US, and spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM) Yao Jian stated on March 5 that it is unfair for the US party to frequently conduct anti-subsidy investigations against China and arbitrarily raise the anti-subsidy tax rate in the form of discrimination to restrain the normal export of Chinese products. Chinese party responded to it by resolutely fighting against the US deeds of abusing trade remedy measures and negotiated with the US party on the US deeds against the WTO rules to maintain the legitimate interests of Chinese enterprises.
Yao stressed that the US once made a ruling for the coated paper exported to the US in the double anti-subsidy investigation against China in November 2007 that the US industries had not been impaired by the products exported by China, but the US party made another double anti-subsidy investigation in two years. The current root cause of the difficulty facing the US industries including coated paper is the severe decline of consumption demand for the financial crisis while the US party attempted to divert the trouble of its enterprises to Chinese counterparts, so Chinese party in no case accepted it, and China will pay close attention to the process of the event in the hope that the US party can make objective and fair judgment in the follow-up investigation.
