China's First Prohibition on Mining Permit for High Alumina Clay and Fluorite

The Ministry of Land and Resources of China recently issued the Notice on Control Indicators in 2010 for Mining Quantity of High Alumina Clay And Fluorite Minerals, confirming the control indicators in 2010 for the nationwide mining of high alumina clay and fluorite are respectively 4.50 million tons (ore quantity) and 11.00 million tons (ore quantity). This is China's first control over the mining quantity of high alumina clay and fluorite minerals.

The Notice indicates that considering the high alumina clay and fluorite are both important mineral resources for China, playing a significant role in ensuring the development of national economy, it is adopted to control the mining quantity of the both minerals and to issue annually control indicators for their mining quantity. According to the Notice, from now on, none of new registrations and applications will be entertained in principle for prospect and mining of high alumina clay and fluorite minerals.
