Hainan to Start Tax Rebate in 2011
[2010-12-27 14:49:44]
According to the latest announcement made by China's Ministry of Finance on December 27,2010, visitors from foreign countries and Hong Kong and Macao regions will be able to get a tax rebate on items purchased in the province from January 1st, 2011.
Under the new policy, overseas tourists can claim tax refunds at 11 percent of their purchases in pilot shops in southern Hainan Province when leaving China.
Even though Hainan is a famous tourism destination, but the island's travel retail market is still relatively underdeveloped. And this move is seen as another boost to further implement the government's pan in building Hainan into a "international tourism island".
