China Suspends Shrimp Import from Vietnam
[2012-11-21 13:49:05]
According to Vietnamese news, China authority has decided to suspend import of shrimps from Vietnam for three reasons: Vietnamese shrimps are suspected of carrying virus; their export certification does not meet Chinese requirements; Vietnamese side failed to give Chinese side the list of their breeders, producers and processers.
Vietnam authority says that, during January-October, the shrimp exports to China totaled USD 143 million, making up 8% of the export total, and as those problematic shrimps were mainly through border trade and smuggling, the Chinese suspension will not pose a big impact to the overall export.
