GACC Announcement No. 9, 2013 Safeguard Agst. New Zealand Agricultural Products

In accordance with China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, China is conducting special safeguard measures against New Zealand agricultural products under 12 HS Codes.

On February 26, 2013, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) announced over the www.customs.gov.cn website that the import volume of New Zealand butter and other greases extracted from milk (HS Codes 04051000 and 04059000) has approached the Chinese safeguard triggering norm of 2013.

Till March 4, 2013, the agricultural products herein imported from New Zealand have totaled 12,104.511 tons and exceeded the safeguard-triggering 11,997 tons of 2013.

So, as of March 5, 2013, such agricultural imports from New Zealand shall be subjected to China’s import duties at the Most-Favored Nation rates; as regards the imports in transit, their duty rates shall resort to GACC Announcement No. 91 of 2008.
