GACC Announcement No.1, 2016 on (Special Safeguard agst New Zealand Butter, Fat & Grease)

In accordance with China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA), China is keeping special safeguard measures against 12 HS Coded agricultural products from New Zealand. Till 6 January 2016, the declared import quantities of involved butter and other fat, grease (HS Codes 04051000 and 04059000) have reached 14204.47 tons in total, exceeding the special-safeguard triggering norm of 13888 tons for 2016.
Hence, as from 11 January 2016, China will levy import duties on New Zealand-originating butter and other fat, grease at China’s most-favored-nation duty rates. Regarding such imports in transit, their duty applicability will still be subjected to GACC Announcement No. 91 of 2008.
