GACC Announcement No.2, 2016 on (Special Safeguard agst New Zealand Cheeses)

In accordance with China-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA), China is keeping special safeguard measures against 12 HS Coded agricultural products from New Zealand. Till 12 January 2016, the declared import quantities of involved cheeses (HS Codes 04061000, 04063000, 04069000) have reached 5355 tons in total, exceeding the special-safeguard triggering norm of 5319 tons for 2016.
Hence, as from 15 January 2016, China will levy import duties on New Zealand-originating cheeses at China’s most-favored-nation duty rates. Regarding such imports in transit, their duty applicability will still be subjected to GACC Announcement No. 91 of 2008.
