GACC-MOA Announcement No. 35, 2018 on Banning Pigs/Boars or Related Products from Hungary for Swine Fever Prevention

On April 23, the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture sent an emergency notice to the International Epizootic Office (OIE) that one case of African swine fever was found in Heves, Hungary on April 20. In accordance with the "Law of the PRC on Quarantine of Inbound/Outbound Animals and Plants", the following is hereby announced:
1. It shall be forbidden to import pigs, wild boars and related products directly or indirectly from Hungary; the "License for Quarantine of Inbound Animals and Plants” shall not be issued for such imports from Hungary, and the License earlier issued shall be revoked now.
2. The pigs, wild boars and related products from Hungary, if having been inbound from the date of this Announcement, shall be returned or destroyed.
3. It shall be forbidden to mail or carry inward pigs, wild boars and related products from Hungary. Upon seizure, the animals and products shall be returned or destroyed.
4. If the pigs, wild boars and related products from Hungary are found on the international voyage vessels, airplanes and trains that pass through or stay in China, the animals and products shall be sealed and quarantined; their wastes and pigswills shall be disposed harmlessly under Customs supervision.
5. If the pigs, wild boars and related products from Hungary are intercepted by frontier defense agencies, the animals and products shall be destroyed under Customs supervision.
6. Any violation of the above provisions shall be punished by the Customs in accordance with the "Law of the PRC on Quarantine of Inbound/Outbound Animals and Plants "and its implementation regulations.
7. All local Customs, epizootic prevention and control agencies, and animal health supervision agencies shall, in accordance with the "Law of the PRC on Quarantine of Inbound/Outbound Animals and Plants" and the "Law of the PRC on Animal Epidemic Prevention", be responsible for quarantine and epidemic prevention over inbound/outbound animals.
This Announcement shall enter into force upon its issuance.
