Ningbo to Generalize Mode of "Dual Transportation of Containers"

It is learned from the Ningbo Port and Navigation Administration Bureau that Ningbo will generalize the mode of "Dual Transportation of Containers" and accelerate the construction of "dry port" this year, promoting economic cooperation with hinterland ports and saving the transportation cost for hinterland enterprises.

According to relevant information, the mode "Dual Transportation of Containers" means that empty containers, stored by shipping company in a "dry port", will be used to carry local exports and then returned to Ningbo port via imports-carrying trucks, after unloading from the trucks the containers of imports. It is estimated that this mode can save the transportation costs for enterprises over RMB 200 Yuan per standard container, thus improving the competitiveness of Ningbo port.

This year, Ningbo port will continue focusing on the combined transportation by sea and rail as well as on the ports' alliance, in order to attract more hinterland goods to be imported and exported through Ningbo port.
