Platform Set up for Customs Clearance between Beijing and Hebei of China to Benefit Enterprises

On May 26, 2010, the Shijiazhuang Customs of China and the Beijing Customs of China formally signed the Coordinate Measures on Supervision of Imports and Exports by Air-Land Multimodal Transport, establishing an efficient and convenient platform for customs clearance for importing and exporting enterprises in North China, reducing the logistics cost and improving the logistics efficiency of enterprises.

According to Mr. Zhu Changxin, a customs officer with the Shijiazhuang Customs of China, the supervision mode for goods by air-land multimodal transport is a transport supervision mode based on the air-waybill only. Enterprises may implement import and export declaration formalities at the local Customs, and the customs clearance formalities for goods shall be handled at the Customs at the port of entry or exit.

The operation of this supervision mode can efficiently make up the limits in international fights and air-routes for goods transport by Shijiazhuang airport, give full play to the advantages of land vehicles with big loading capacities and flexible transportation routes, cut the logistics cost of enterprises, and undertake the air-transport overflowed from the saturation in airspace resource of Beijing Capital International Airport, thus beneficial for the importing and exporting enterprises in Hebei Province to expand international business, and playing a powerful role in promoting the development and opening-up of Shijiazhuang airport.
