The establishment of export processing zone in Hefei City of Anhui Province, China has been formally approved by the State Council of P. R. China. This means that Hefei becomes the second city establishing export processing zones in Anhui Province after Wuhu City.

According to relevant data, in 2009, the total import and export value of Hefei reached USD 6.43 billion, ranking the second in the central provincial capitals. The comparative advantages in processing trade and export trade as well as fine location advantage and basic conditions contributed to Hefei’s superiority in the application for export processing zone.

According to the planning, Hefei export processing will mainly develop export processing business and export processing enterprises, focusing on the introduction of a batch of processing enterprises having close contact with the demand of markets at home and abroad, leading enterprises of high-tech exports, and research & development centers of export processing enterprises.

It is learned that the preferential policies within the export processing zones are almost the same with that for bonded areas, enterprises within such zones may enjoy preference such as tax drawback and exemption for sales of domestic equipments and materials and tariff exemption for exports.
