Xiamen's Fruit Imports Surged from Taiwan in First Half 2012

Over the first half year, China's Xiamen Customs remained No. 1 among the mainland ports in import of Taiwanese fruits by importing totally 5,000 tons from Taiwan region, up 56.9% year-on-year, accounting for 42% of China's total volume.

As fruits are easy to rot in hot summer, Xiamen Customs has launched a "cool customs-clearance channel" for faster clearance of summer fruits.

According to the Customs authority, it supervised totally 22,000 tons of import fruits worth USD 19.06 million, respectively up 13.4% and 12.2% year-on-year; therein 16,900 tons were from ASEAN states, up 5.1% year-on-year.

Seen from the fruit variety, the main imports were dragon fruits, pineapples and bananas: dragon fruit imports reached 12,600 tons, up 71.8% year-on-year, accounting for 57.3%; pineapple imports reached 2,700 tons, up 83.2% year-on-year, accounting for 12.3%; banana imports 2,700 tons, none one year ago.
