Imported Fertilizers Including Urea Continues to be Applied to the Provisional T

Ministry of Finance stated that China will adjust import and export tariff further from Jan.1, 2009, but the general tariff level will remain at 9.8%. In particular, the imported fertilizers including urea continue to be applied to the provisional tariff rate of 1% in this year.

The news release published on the website of Ministry of Finance states that this adjustment of tariffs involves the most favored nation tariff rate, annual provisional tariff rate, conventional tariff rate, preferential tariff rate and tariff headings etc, aiming to promote the stable growth and optimized structure of import and export trade by implementing positive financial policies.

In 2009 tariff quota will continue applying to three fertilizers including urea, compound fertilizers and diammonium phosphate; special export tariff will continue applying to fertilizers such as compound fertilizers and their raw materials but the rate will be lowered. In addition, seasonal export tariff will be imposed on the exported urea, ammonium phosphate, double superphosphate and other fertilizers, and in the low season of fertilizer use, variable levy will apply.
