Over 400 Commodities under Macao CEPA Enjoy Zero Tariff from July

According to the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement and its related supplementary agreement, since July 2009, Chinese mainland offers zero tariff treatment on another 475 commodities imported from Macao, which is the first time for Macao to benefit from Chinese zero tariff with largest quantity of commodities since the implementation of Macao CEPA. So far, there are 1156 commodities enjoy the place of origin standard of zero tariff under Macao CEPA.

The scope of increased commodities under zero tariff on July, shows the effort and determination of Chinese mainland to support the diversified development of Macao's economy, which is good to fight against international financial crisis, promote economic commutation and cooperation, as well as the development and prosperity in both area.

Reported by a Chinese mainland media, Macao CEPA had developed steadily, also made great progress since it established in January 1st,2004. To ensure the CEPA trade policy can been well implemented, Gongbei customs made great effort from various aspects, including deepening customs clearance and increasing reform, innovating CEPA green channel, providing policy preach for enterprises and opening tariff consulting service line.

According to the customs statistics, in the first half of 2009, the total amount of CEPA commodities released in Gongbei customs is 830000 U.S. dollars, and tariff save of 1.28 million yuan, increasing five and eight times respectively.
