Brazil's Companies Hope To Continue To Levy Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese Footw

According to local media reports, the Brazilian shoe company representatives in Congress, one of the Congressman said on 3rd that since the government began to levy anti-dumping duties on Chinese footwear in September last year, the Brazilian footwear industry increased by 15 thousand jobs while footwear imports from China fell by nearly 30 million pairs. Currently, Brazilian shoe-making industry has submitted an application to relevant governmental departments to continuously impose 12.47 U.S. dollars per pair of anti-dumping duties on Chinese footwear

In September 2009, the Brazilian government decided to start anti-dumping investigations on imports of Chinese shoes and levy 12.47 U.S. dollars per pair of provisional anti-dumping duty, valid for 6 months. If the dumping of Chinese footwear does not hold after investigation, the additional tax measures are to be ended on March 8th this year.
