Argentina Takes Final Anti-dumping Measures on Shoes Originated from China

The ministry of Industry and Tourism of Argentina announced on March 21, that it took final anti-dumping measures on shoes originating from China in order to protect domestic shoes industry.

According to the determination signed by the Minister of Industry and Tourism Débora Giorgi, the lowest referential price of all of shoes imported from China would be set starting from March 22. The lowest FOB price would be USD 13.38 per pair of shoes. If the price quoted to Argentina Customs is lower than this criterion, tariff would be levied according to the referential price.

The expiry date of the final anti-dumping measures is five years, excluding orthopedic shoes, skating shoes and skiing shoes originating from China.

Since the end of 2008, Argentina government has begun to take a series of restricting measures on commodities imported from China. The latest statistical report from the National Bureau of Statistics of Argentina showed that the bilateral trade between Argentina and China realized USD 8829 million in 2009, a fall of 35.8 percent compared with the previous year.
