[2010-04-20 08:40:49]
U.S. Department of Commerce made a final ruling on April 9, 2010, that anti-dumping duties from 29.94% to 99.14% shall be imposed on oil-well pipes imported from China, with more than one billion U.S. dollars and dozens of Chinese enterprises to be involved.
In April 2009, United Steelworkers of America (USWA) and seven U.S. steel companies applied to the U.S. Government for trade remedy against the import of oil-well pipes from China. The U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. Department of Commerce made preliminary rulings respectively in June 2009 and in November 2009, both of which confirmed that the dumping of Chinese oil-well pipes was based on fact.
The U.S. International Trade Commission will make a final ruling in May 2010. According to the current schedule, the U.S. will start to issue an anti-dumping decree in June 2010 provided that the final ruling is affirmative with the same conclusion.
