Facing the European Union's anti-dumping investigations, Huawei Technologies Co., and ZTE Crop., two of China's largest wireless data card exporters, claimed on July 5 that they will undertake their own defense.

China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) also said they are going to launch defense actions toward the E.U. anti-dumping investigation.

Meanwhile, both the Ministry of Commerce and local commerce authorities sent officials to provide assistance and guidance for the enterprises involved in the anti-dumping case.

An official from the CCCME estimated that at least 2 billion U.S. dollars worth of goods are affected in this case.

"This is the EU's first anti-dumping case against China's exporters in the high-tech sectors," said Wang Guiqing, deputy head of the CCCME.

Data showed that Huawei's wireless data cards enjoyed over 70 percent of market share in many European countries.

In 2009, the overall shipment of ZTE's data cards was close to 20 million units, showing a year-on-year growth rate of over 200 percent.
