Announcement of the General Administration of Customs of P. R. China, No. 52, 2010: On the Implementation of Special Safeguard Measures on Agricultural Products from New Zealand under 11 HS Codes

In accordance with the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of New Zealand (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement), China shall implement special safeguard measures on agricultural products originating in New Zealand under 11 HS Codes.

On August 10, 2010, the General Administration of Customs of P. R. China released on www.customs.gov.cn, its website oriented externally, that the import quantity of cheese and curd products (under the HS Codes of 04061000, 04063000, and 04069000) under the control of special safeguard measures had approached to this year's quantity for triggering the special safeguard measures.

By September 1, 2010, the declared import quantity of aforementioned agricultural products had reached 3,989.5 tons, exceeding this year's trigger standard of 3,969 tons.

Therefore, as of September 2, 2010, China will levy import tariffs at the most-favored-nation rates on the aforementioned agricultural products originating in New Zealand under the Agreement.

In addition, tariff rates applicable to those agricultural products en-route for import and other relevant issues shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions in the Announcement of the General Administration of Customs of P. R. China, No.91, 2008.
