China to Raise Renewable Power Tariffs

[2011-04-02 10:04:04]

China plans to raise the price of power generated from renewable sources over the next two years, in order to stimulate clean energy investment.

The China Electricity Regulatory Commission will reportedly increase the additional levy from 0.004 yuan to 0.006 yuan per kilowatt-hour this year or next.

An official from the commission said China had to address the growing "subsidy gap", in order to meet its goal to raise the share of non-fossil fuel energies to 15 percent of the total by 2020.
