Taiwan Imposes Anti-Dumping Tariffs on Chinese Towels for Five More Years

The tariff rate committee of the Ministry of Finance (MOF) determined on Dec. 19 to continue levying anti-dumping tariff on Chinese-made towels for another five years, starting Dec. 20, 2011 as they continue to pose a hazard to Taiwan-made products.

The case implicated Kunshan Shunmin Textile, Zhejiang Shangdeng Jiafang (both literal translation) and other mainland Chinese towel makers, which will be subject to anti-dumping tariffs ranging from 86.6% to 204.1%.

The anti-dumping move follows the first round of anti-dumping tariff on mainland Chinese-made towels lasting five years, from June 1, 2006 to May 31, 2011. The MOF and the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) restarted investigation on the anti-dumping act and determined to levy the tariff for another five years, until Dec. 19, 2016.

The MOF reported that the existing products being subject to the anti-dumping tariffs all come from mainland Chinese, including towel, footwear, and Portland cement and its clinker.
