EU Imposes Anti-dumping Duty on China Seamless Steel

China's Ministry of Commerce on January 8 posted that the European Commission imposed 48.3 percent to 71.9 percent definitive anti-dumping duties on stainless seamless steel tubes from China.

The seamless tube is a product with higher value added among steel products, and the product involved in the anti-dumping case are high- and medium-end products of the stainless seamless steel tube.

Incomplete statistics show that China exported about 20,000 tons of stainless seamless steel tubes in 2010, accounting for 13 percent of total such exports that year.

Insiders point out that China's steel tube exports have been merely 30,000 or 40,000 tons each month since 2011 beginning. Of the total, seamless steel tube exports were around 10,000 tons. While China's steel tubes have been inflicted anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations overseas repeatedly, imported steel tubes have been making impact on home steelmakers.
