China Gives Zero Duty to Some Imports from NZ in 2012

From January 1, 2012, China's import duties on New Zealand (NZ) wine, fresh and frozen sea foods like fish, mussel, lobster and abalone, are lowered to zero.

Before then, in 2011, the import duties on New Zealand wine were ranging from 2% to 4%, and those on sea foods like eel, mackerel and jellyfish were from 2.4% to 3%.

Tariff preference obviously improved New Zealand's exports to China. During November 2010-October 2011, the value of trade reached approximately USD 10.5 billion; however New Zealand's target is to expand China-New Zealand trade to USD 16 billion in 2015.
