On March 20, 2012, in its expedited anti-dumping (AD) sunset-review ruling, the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) announced that revoking the existing antidumping duty order on silicon metal originating from China would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to U.S. industries within a reasonably foreseeable time.
With the Commission's affirmative determination, the existing anti-dumping measures on such imports from China will remain in place.
On September 5, 1990, U.S. Department of Commerce started the anti-dumping probe under HS Code 28046910 and 28046950.
On April 23, 1991, the Department finally ruled that Chinese enterprises involved have the dumping margin of 139.49%.
On November 1, 2011, the Department took the sunset-review probe for the third time.
On February 22, 2012, the Department finally determined the anti-dumping duty rate 139.49% on Chinese enterprises involved.
