India Re-imposes Antidumping Duty on Chinese POY

The Indian Finance Ministry has continued imposition of antidumping duty on imports of partially oriented yarn (POY) originating from China for another five years.

Following a sunset review conducted by the Ministry, it has decided to impose definitive antidumping duty amounting to US $542.22 / ton on all POY imports exported from China.

The antidumping duty on POY imported from China was earlier imposed in August 2007 for a period of five years.

Thereafter a sunset review was initiated last year, during which period the ministry extended the validity of the antidumping duty till February 2012.

Earlier, major POY producers like Reliance Industries, Garden Silk Mills, Alok Industries, Indrama Synthetics had filed the application citing in jury from imports of Chinese POY.
