On June 4, 2012, the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) announced starting a full sunset review concerning the antidumping (AD) duty order on activated carbon from China to determine whether revocation of this order would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to U.S. local industries.

On April 4, 2006, the U.S. Department of Commerce launched the antidumping probe under HS Code 38021000, and on March 2, 2007 made a final ruling of 62.08%-228.11% dumping margin taken by Chinese enterprises involved.

On May 29, 2009, the Department took an administrative review on this case.

On March 1, 2012, the Department started its antidumping sunset-review probe on the case.
