Chinese indium producers said on Aug. 8, 2012 that they expected the Ministry of Commerce to consider their request to remove a 5% export tax on the metal.
The ministry is expected to make a decision on China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association's application for the export tax to be removed within two months, a company official from an indium producer said.
Representatives from around 20 indium exporters met with the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals, Chemicals Importers and Exporters on July 27 in Changchun city, Jilin province. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange views on China's export quota system, which allows only licensed companies to export and then an amount that is decided by the government.
