China Duties for Indian, Japanese Pyridine Imports

China's Ministry of Commerce said on Nov. 20, 2013 that it will impose five-year anti-dumping tariffs on Indian and Japanese imports of pyridine, a raw material for making pesticides and herbicides.

The tariff will range from 24.6 percent to 57.4 percent and will become effective on No. 21, 2013, the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The ministry said an eight-month investigation found that producers in India and Japan had been dumping pyridine into the Chinese market, which had caused "substantial damage" to Chinese industry.

In May, the ministry issued a preliminary ruling that India and Japan had been dumping the chemical into the Chinese market and slapped preliminary anti-dumping duties of up to 57.4 percent on the product.
