U.S. Rules Injury by China Non-oriented Electrical Steels

On December 2, the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) determined that there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by the imports of non-oriented electrical steels from China, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, and Chinese Taiwan that are allegedly sold in the USA at less than fair value and that are allegedly subsidized by the governments of China, South Korea, and Chinese Taiwan.

As a result of the Commission's affirmative rulings, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue to conduct its investigations on those imports, with its preliminary anti-subsidy duty determinations due on or about January 10, 2014, and its preliminary antidumping duty determinations on or about March 26, 2014.

On November 18, the Commerce Dept launched the double-anti probe into the China-made products for the period of January 1-June 30, 2013 at the request of AK Steel Corporation, West Chester, Ohio.
