Canada Rules Injury by Import Copper Pipes

On December 18, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal made a final ruling that Canadian domestic industries have been injured by the copper pipes dumped from China, Brazil, Greece, South Korea, and Mexico and also injured by the subsidized products from China.

Accordingly, Canada Border Services Agency will continue to levy the antidumping or anti-subsidy duties on such imports. On January 2, 2014, the Tribunal will release the reasons for the injury ruling.

On November 18, the Agency finally ruled that China's Shanghai Hailiang Copper Industry Company and Zhejiang Hailiang Corporation should be subject to the antidumping duties of 7.5% and 6.1% respectively, and their subsidy rates were RMB 108.35/ton and RMB 332.87/ton respectively; the Chinese general dumping rate was 82.4% and general subsidy rate RMB 252.398/ton.
