Even as the Copenhagen climate meet is turning out to be a faux pas, there are industries which are seriously considering a big role in climate change efforts.

Aluminium industry is one such sector which believes that the metal can help to some extend reduce the global warming.

Aluminium is a metal which can be recycled and in that way help reduce carbon emissions.

So, if industries across the globe turn to aluminium for their metal needs, the aluminium sector will see a change in its demand level.

In fact, several industries like low cost house building sector have already shown interest in turning to aluminium.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's aluminium exporters are celebrating new Australian trade barriers put up to block cheap Chinese products entering the country.

Chinese dominance of the market prompted Australian Customs to impose a 16 per cent import tariff on aluminium extrusion products from China, joining Canada which already has a 39 per cent tariff.

The move should also restore confidence in the local aluminium industry among bankers and other financial institutions.
