Pakistan customs recently announced No. SRO.595(I)/2009 Order which was revised from No. SRO.497(I)/2009 released on June 13,2009. It is said that Pakistan customs will lift the upper limit of tariff rate from 35% now to 37.5% on 28 kinds of products imported from China that includes ceramic tiles, ceramic kitchen utensils, electronic fans, air conditioners, refrigerated chamber etc. It is known that the previously released No.497 Order had lifted tariff rate of 10% on above-mentioned products. It is also reported that the above-motioned products imported from other countries will be imposed both import tariff and import regulation tax.

The action of lifting tariff rate on some products taken by Pakistan government is aimed to prevent large amount of goods rushed into its nation and bring impacts on its domestic industry. Since China and Pakistan has signed free trade agreement, though Pakistan can still lift tariff rate on products excluded from the List of Tariff Reduction, the upper limit for tariff rate can't surpass 50%.
