New Zealand and Hong Kong Signed Trade Agreement to Lower Export Tariff

On March 29, 2010, New Zealand and Hong Kong SAR of China signed an agreement of Closer Economic Partnership, which is designed to lower the tariff on Hong Kong's exports to New Zealand, strengthening the Competitiveness of Hong Kong's products.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand indicated that, this agreement shall be implemented in late 2010 when tariff on 54 percent of Hong Kong's exports to New Zealand are to be cancelled, that on remaining 46 percent to be gradually cancelled before the year 2016, mainly involving the industries sensitive to New Zealand such as textile, clothes and shoes, etc.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand confirmed that New Zealand would continuously offer zero-tariff preference in the future for all exports from Hong Kong SAR of China.
