Filipino Galvanizers Institute Requests to Cancel Import Tariff on Steel Product

Filipino Galvanizers Institute (FGI), representing related Philippine manufacturers, requests the Philippine Government to cancel the import tariff on steel products. Six years ago, Manila, capital of the Philippines, imposed 7 percent tariff on imported rolled steels in order to relieve Global Steel Philippines Incorporation (GSPI) from the pressure caused by the imported cold-rolled and hot-rolled steels. At present, the Philippine Government will reconsider whether to provide tariff protection for GSPI or not.

FGI also hopes that Manila can take investigation into whether China provided subsidies for its exporters of color-coated sheet and galvanized sheet.
