Russia to Continue High Tariff on Imported Automobiles

According to a report on April 26, 2010 from a web-based Russian newspaper, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Khristenko, attended in Vladivostok the production ceremony of a new-type automobile held by the far-east automobile factory of Sollers Company and said that the construction and production project of Vladivostok Automobile Factory was a component of the long-term development plan of Russian automobile industry, therefore included into Russian far-east development strategy. As claimed by the Minister, Russian Government will not consider reducing the tariff on imported new and used automobiles in the short term so as to build a beneficial environment for Russian automobile production with high quality and competitiveness.
