World Health Organization Proposed a Raise on Tobacco Tax to Kazakhstan

According to a report from the Kazakhstan's media, on May 30, 2010, the eve of the World No-Tobacco Day, the representative from the World Health Organization visited Kazakhstan. At the round table conference held in the Senate of Kazakhstan, the representative from the World Health Organization proposed to the Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan that the additional tax on tobacco be raised to 75% of the cigarette price from current 20% of the cigarette price so as to enhance the national smoking control.
