Sri Lanka to Restore Import Tariff on Wheat Flour
[2010-06-28 08:19:18]
Recently, the Sri Lankan Government announced to restore the import tariff of RUPEE 10 per kilogram on wheat grain.
In September 2009, the Sri Lankan Government cancelled the import tariff because of the domestic grain supply shortage back then.
To protect the interests of grain farmers in Sri Lanka and encourage the Sri Lankans to consume rice, the Government therefore considered restoring the import tariff on wheat flour and so on, said an official from the Ministry of Finance & Planning, Sri Lanka.
