On August 16, 2010, the Mexican Government indicated that they will impose tariffs on 99 kinds of commodities from the United States such as pork and oranges to retaliate for the prohibition of the U.S. Government on the entry of Mexican automobile carriers.

According to the Mexican Ministry of Economic Affairs, the newly-increased tariff list of the U.S. imports will be released this week. Apart from pork and oranges, it also includes pomelos, pistachios, gum, cheese, and tomato sauce.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs also said that the expanded duty base of the U.S. imports will affect the bilateral trade with a value of about USD 2.5 billion, involving the agricultural products and industrial products from 43 states of the U.S.
