The sub-committee on foreign trade protective measures of Russia decided on Oct. 26, 2010 to reduce the import tariff on stainless steel tubes/pipes to 9.9% from 28.1% and impose a special import tariff of no less than USD 1,500 per ton at the same time.
As from Nov. 2009, based on the findings of the anti-dumping investigation, Russia began to levy protective import tariffs on such steel tubes/pipes, including tubes/pipes for petroleum and natural gas of 19 different diameters.
Before then, Russia once imposed import tariffs ranging from 5% to 20% on such tubes/pipes.
The stainless steel tubes/pipes under special tariffs do not include the anti-corrosion steel tubes/pipes imported from Belarus and other developing countries enjoying national preferential treatment (excluding Brazil and China).
The stainless steel tubes/pipes of Russia are mainly from Ukraine, Brazil, China, and the European Union (including Italy).
