Philippines Impose Protective Tariff on Imported Cardboard

On November 29, 2010, a report from Philippine Manila Standard said that the Philippine Tariff Commission decided to levy protective tariff on imported cardboard with Peso 1,342 per ton (about USD 30.5). The Philippine Tariff Commission indicates that large cardboard imports have seriously influenced local industry. Before this, Philippine papermaking industry said that the increase of imported cardboard damaged the local manufacturing business. The weights of the imported cardboard affected by this policy are as follows: 125 grams, 140 grams, 150 grams, 160 grams, 175 grams, 185 grams, 200 grams and 230 grams.
