Philippines Imposes Protective Tariff on Imported Cardboard

On November 29, 2010, a report from the Philippine Manila Standard said that the Philippine Tariff Commission decided to impose protective tariff of Peso 1,342 (about USD 30.5) per ton on imported cardboard. The Philippine Tariff Commission says that large quantity of imported cardboard has greatly injured local industry according to relevant investigation. Before this, the Philippine papermaking industry said big growth of imported cardboard had injured local manufacturing industry. The above-mentioned measures refer to the cardboard between 125 grams and 230 grams.
