Saudi Arabia to Reduce Tariff on 122 Types of Imported Commodities

On December 9, 2010, a report from the Arab News said that the Saudi Customs would reduce tariff on 122 types of imported commodities from December 11, 2010.

These commodities include chemicals, perfume, shampoo, toothpaste, shaving cream, pesticides, plastics and etc. The former tariff is from 7.6% to 20% and the tariff after adjustment ranges from 5.5% to 6.5%.

Saudi Arabia had reduced tariff on 816 types of commodities since its entry into the WTO in 2005, including 472 types of commodities in the first phase, 22 types of commodities in the second phase (year 2007), 180 types of commodities in the third phase (year 2008) and 20 types of commodities in the fourth phase (year 2009).
