South Africa to Increase Export Tariff of 600% on Lumber

Recently, according to reports from South Africa media, the South African National Port Authority said they decided to increase export tariff of 600% on lumber in 2011 because of the shortage of lumber resource and influences by international lumber processing market demands. The South African wood industry association indicates that the continuous increase of exchange rate of Rand, as well as the fluctuation in international finance market, adds more risks to lumber export merchants.
