Customs Union Decides to Extend One Year of Low Import Tariff on Coated Paper

According to the news from the Interfax Moscow on February 11, 2011, the Customs Union decided to continue import tariff as 5% on coated paper and corrugated paper, which would terminate on February 22, 2012. This decision (No. 542) has been put on the website of Customs Union Committee.

At the beginning of December 2010, the Russian Government had suggested extending the low tariff period on products mentioned above, as theses products above were not manufactured in Russia.

In 2009, the tariff on coated paper and corrugated paper was reduced from 15% to 5%. Some people from the press and publish industry of Russia had showed their intention to put investment in this industry, but the orders for these related products had all flowed abroad. Thus this industry was abandoned as it was assessed as the one with lowest benefit.
