Iraq Strengthened Import Restriction to Increase Tariff on Hundreds of Commodities

According to the news by Iraq Customs, Iraq decided to increase tariff on hundreds of commodities from March 6, 2011 with its improving competitiveness of local industry and restricting markets of low quality commodities. This measure also refers to carrying out new import license system.

It is indicated by Iraq Customs Tariff Schedule that tariff on liquor will reach 80%, tariff on tobacco as 50%, cement as 15%. The tariff on vegetable is 30% during the harvest season, while 10% in other seasons.
