Tajikistan to Impose Value-Added Tax as 5% on Medicine Imports

According to the reports by Tajikistan Asia News, Tajikistan plans to impose value-added tax as 5% on medicine imports from other countries from January 1, 2011, excluding the medicines like vaccine, blood serum, blood plasma and other medicines under the catalogue of humanitarian assistance.

Information from the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan indicates that Russia is the largest exporting country of medicine for Tajikistan at present, taking up 30% to 40% of market share in Tajikistan. The following are Ukraine and India. And there are only 6 pharmaceutical factories in Tajikistan.
