Uzbekistan to Impose Consumption Taxes on Import Fruits & Flour from April 1, 2011

According to the order by Uzbekistan President, Uzbekistan will start from April 1, 2011 to impose consumption taxes on some imported fruits and flour.

Fruits involved are fresh bananas, fresh pineapples, avocados, guavas , fresh mangos, mangosteen (Garcinia), sweet oranges, fresh or dried mandarin oranges (including loose-peel mandarins and satsuma oranges), other hybrid citrus fruits, fresh or dried grapefruits (including pomelo), fresh or dried lemons (citrus limon), kiwifruits, etc. and the tax rate on them is to be 25% of Uzbekistan customs value, but not less than USD 0.15 per kg.

Additionally, 15% of its customs value is to be levied as consumption tax on imported wheat flour.
