Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union to Suspend Import Duty Change from Aug. 25, 2011

The Commission of Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan decided to suspend changing import duty rates and modifying current "unified commodity catalog for foreign economic activities" from August 25, 2011 to January 1, 2012. Resolution No. 712 about this issue has been released on its official website.

The Commission stated that the above decision is because it is considering the formulation of a new-version "unified commodity catalog", which is to be adopted by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan by October 25, 2011, be promulgated on November 30, 2011, and be put into force from January 1, 2012.

Therefore, the Customs Union requested all the member states to offer their proposals on the import-duty adjustment before August 25, 2011, which will be discussed on August 16, 2011.
