Sri Lanka Raises Import Duties on 3 Agric. Products

On August 22, a Sri Lanka's trade authority announced its immediate raising of the import duties on three agricultural produce including onions, potatoes and garlic.

This move increases the import duties on one kilogram of onions, potatoes and garlic respectively by 10 rupees (about 0.09 U.S. dollar), 5 rupees and 15 rupees to 35 rupees, 35 rupees and 25 rupees respectively, with the aim of keeping stability in local market prices.
