The U.S. Keeps Anti-dumping Duties on PSF from South Korea, Taiwan

The US International Trade Commission, or USITC, has decided to keep antidumping duties on polyester staple fiber imports from South Korea and Taiwan in place, the commission said on Aug.30, 2011.

The USITC said revoking the antidumping duty order on PSF from South Korea and Taiwan would likely lead to a continuation or recurrence of "material injury" to local producers "within a reasonably foreseeable time".

The USITC was required to conduct the review of antidumping duties on PSF to comply with the Uruguay Round Agreements Act, which requires antidumping duties be revoked after five years unless the US Department of Commerce and USITC determine otherwise after a review.

The order on PSF imports from South Korea and Taiwan imposed March 20, 2006, will therefore remain in place, the commission said.
